BougeRV Telescopic Camping Light Review: Light Where Dad Needs It
The kids aren’t ready to head inside, but daylight has other plans. My review of the BougeRV telescopic camping light covers backyard evenings, adjustable lighting, quick setup, and a few honest callouts. My family isn’t big on camping, but Dad still found a reason to bring camping gear to the fire pit.

My idea of roughing it is a backyard fire pit with the snacks slightly out of reach.
My family and I aren’t big campers, but I spend plenty of evenings outside with my kids. In this BougeRV telescopic camping light review, I’m sharing how the T1 fits that backyard routine.
BougeRV sent me this light for free to give my honest review. I tried its setup, directional panels, lighting modes, and folding design, then moved inside for the close-ups because the humidity was winning.
My Quick Video Review
Here’s a quick video review of the BougeRV T1 Telescopic Camping Light. Watch me extend the pole, snap out the tripod feet, aim the three panels, and demonstrate the controls and charging port.

Here are a few other products you may be interested in, Dad.
- Give Dad a place to kick back. The KingCamp low-profile, high-back beach chair review covers compact seating for relaxing outside while the BougeRV handles the lighting.
- Take a bright beam along for the walk. Check out my GearLight S2000 1200-lumens flashlight review for a handheld option when it’s time to leave the standing light behind.

Pros and Cons
Here’s a quick breakdown of what Dad liked, and what can be improved about this telescopic camping light.
What I Liked
- Three independently adjustable panels – I can aim the lights in different directions instead of moving the entire unit.
- Quick setup and compact storage – The pole extends, the legs snap into place, and everything folds back into a slim package.
- A sturdy feel without excessive weight – At roughly 2.5 pounds, it feels substantial while still being manageable to carry.
- White, amber, and red lighting – I appreciate having options beyond one bright white setting.
- USB-C charging and backup phone power – The power-bank function adds another practical use to a light I’m already bringing outside.
Dad’s Honest Callouts
- Folding takes a little attention – The panels need to face outward and line up with their grooves before sliding the light closed. One was turned slightly during my demo, so I stopped and corrected it.
- The flashlight is an extra for me – I already own stronger dedicated flashlights. I expect to use this mainly as a standing light.
- Know what the runtime claim means – Amazon lists approximately 8–102 hours, with the longest figure tied to low-brightness amber lighting on one panel. I haven’t independently measured a full battery cycle.
Quick Verdict
I’d recommend the BougeRV T1 if you want a portable standing light for camping or evenings closer to home. The directional panels, solid-feeling base, and compact folding design stood out most to me. My family doesn’t need a big camping trip to have a reason to use it—fire pit evenings and outdoor play are plenty.

Dad’s 5 Key Features
Here are the five features that stood out while I tried the BougeRV T1 for my family’s backyard evenings.
1. Three Panels That Point Where I Need Them
The independently directional lights are my favorite part of this design. In my demo, I pointed one panel one way and rotated another toward a different area. That flexibility is useful when the family isn’t gathered in one neat circle. BougeRV rates each panel at 1,000 lumens, but the practical win for me is choosing where that light goes.
2. Telescopic Setup Without a Big Production
I extended the pole, opened the feet, and flipped out the lights in a matter of seconds. There’s something satisfying about gear that doesn’t turn a simple evening outside into an assembly project. Folding it down is straightforward once the panels are oriented correctly, and the finished package is slim enough that it doesn’t feel like storing another big stand.
Dad Tip: Before collapsing it, turn all three panels outward and align them with the grooves; I had to rotate one during my demo before it would slide in.
3. A Tripod Base with Thoughtful Little Details
I liked hearing the legs snap into position because it gave me a clear indication they were extended. The rubberized feet were another small detail I appreciated for helping limit sliding. In my hands, the light felt solid without being excessively heavy. That’s a useful balance for something I’ll move around outside and then carry back in when the evening ends.
4. Lighting Options and a Handy Control Shortcut
I cycled through white, yellow or amber, and red light during the review. Having those choices makes this more adaptable than a light with just one setting. I also demonstrated turning the panels on one at a time, so I don’t always need all three. There’s an SOS flashing mode, too, although my main interest is everyday lighting around home.
Dad Tip: Double-click the power button to bring all three panels on at once—a handy shortcut I demonstrated in the video.
5. USB-C Power and Useful Backup Functions
The charging port sits under a rubber cover at the bottom, and the same USB-C connection lets this rechargeable camping light serve as a power bank. I like the option to top up a phone if needed. The hanging hook and collapsed flashlight mode add flexibility, though I’m mainly interested in using the T1 upright rather than replacing my dedicated flashlights.
Dad’s Final Thoughts
Fun Fact: Lumens describe light output, while watts describe energy use. So when Dad’s comparing brightness, lumens are the number to watch.
For me, this light fits the kind of outdoor time my family actually enjoys: close to home, with a fire pit and kids who aren’t ready to head inside. No campground reservation required.
